Smithers expand capacity and announce new testing laboratory

Smithers (OH, USA) have announced expansion plans including a new laboratory with functional testing in Akron, Ohio. The new laboratory will offer standard and custom testing to qualify a wide range of devices. Some of these devices include pen, jet and auto injectors; prefilled syringes; needle-based injection systems; and cartridge/pump dispensers.

The new laboratory will be located at the Bounce Innovation Hub in Akron (OH, USA) and will expand Smithers testing services, which is currently located in North America and the United Kingdom.

“Smithers has been a partner to the life sciences industry for many years, and we are constantly seeking feedback from our clients regarding their testing and validation needs,” commented Gael Peron, Vice President of Medical Device Testing, Smithers. “Our North American clients have asked for a functional and mechanical device testing laboratory in the United States with the same capabilities and expertise as our established lab in the United Kingdom. This expansion of our global portfolio will result in faster turn-around times and more efficient product development processes for our clients here in North America.”
