Shimadzu (Kyoto, Japan) and Indigo BioSystems (IN, USA) have announced a partnership under which they will combine their expertise in MS platforms and data analysis software.

The ASCENT™ software developed by Indigo BioSystems is capable of automatically analyzing data and reviewing it for problematic results. It allows high-throughput due to it’s automated nature, and also includes assay-specific quality assurance rules, which allow peaks to be automatically tested for quality. Shimadzu has developed a range of analytical instrumentation, including ultra-fast MS platforms.

Under the agreement, the two companies will develop and market MS solutions that incorporate the ASCENT software, in order to simplify and accelerate clinical data acquisition and data review.

Randall Julian, Chief Executive Officer of Indigo BioSystems, commented, “Our partnership with Shimadzu will result in tighter integration between their excellent ultra-fast LC-MS/MS and our automated analysis software ASCENT. This collaboration allows production labs to achieve maximum efficiency, superior quality, and rapid turnaround time.”

Patrick Armstrong, Director of Shimadzu Scientific Instrument’s R&D department, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “We are excited to work with Indigo to leverage powerful ASCENT tools on Shimadzu ultra-fast mass spectrometry platforms.”
