Zone Leader: Martijn Hilhorst
Martijn Hilhorst studied analytical chemistry at the University of Amsterdam followed by a PhD period at the University of Groningen where he developed strategies for the determination of impurities in drugs using electrokinetic separation techniques. After a 6 month postdoc position in the field of therapeutic drug monitoring with LC-MS/MS, he worked as a research scientist in the field of lab automation, drug discovery and proteomics for over 6 years. Martijn is now active for 12 years in bioanalysis and currently is the Director of LC-MS bioanalysis at QPS (Groningen, The Netherlands). He is (co)-author of several publications and speaker on international conferences.
What three things would you take if you were stranded on a desert island?
- A boat

If you weren’t a bioanalyst what would you be?
- Probably an assistant professor at an university
What is your favorite city?
- Tynaarlo (where I live)
Why have you decided to become a Zone Leader?
I like to contribute with my knowledge and experience to the bioanalytical community. By becoming a Zone Leader I can do that and learn from other professionals.
