LGC purchases Bioanalytical Services business from Quotient Bioresearch
With the procurement of Quotient, Bioanalytical Services LGC is to enhance their service capabilities.
Drug-development services provider, Quotient Bioresearch (UK) has agreed to sell its Bioanalytical Sciences division to fellow UK-based company, LGC.
LGC provides a platform for pharmaceutical, forensic science and biotechnology research and is the UK’s designated National Measurement Institute for chemical and biochemical analysis, and National Reference Laboratory for a range of key areas.
Procurement of Quotient’s Bioanalytical Sciences division is anticipated to strengthen LGC’s current service and product capabilities within the fields of bioanalysis, materials science and reference materials, among others.
Jeremy Cook, Managing Director of LGC’s Health Sciences, said, “We’re delighted to have acquired Quotient Bioanalytical Sciences, a high-quality business which is complementary to our existing activities. Also commenting on the agreement, Steve Pleasance, Managing Director of Quotient Bioanalytical Sciences, added that, “LGC’s focus on complex analytical chemistry, high quality science and service delivery make them a natural home for our business.”
The transaction, which follows the sale of Quotient’s HFL Sport Science to LGC, 2 years prior, was agreed under the terms that Quotient and LGC will collaborate as preferred partners on the provision of Bioanalytical Sciences, allowing customers to access the early-development services offered by the Quotient group.
According to a press release from LGC, the Bioanalytical Sciences business is to become part of LGC’s Health Sciences sector and will continue to trade under the name “Quotient” for the foreseeable future.
