CFX Opus Deepwell system: the latest bioinnovation for real-time PCR
Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. (CA, USA) has launched the CFX Opus Deepwell, their newest real-time PCR detection system, to support the development of nucleic acid detection assays. Demonstrating the largest reaction volume capacity to date and enhanced data management and analysis features, this system is set to alleviate past limitations with sample size and offer more efficient workflows.
Bio-Rad, a global leader in the development of innovative products for the life sciences, has announced the launch of their latest real-time PCR instrument: the CFX Opus Deepwell system. Suitable for reaction volumes of up to 125 µl, the Deepwell system holds the largest reaction volume in the CFX Opus range and one of the largest qPCR reaction volumes in the industry. The deeper sample wells of the system will appeal to those using workflows requiring larger reaction volumes for pooling, specialized protocols designed for food and industrial testing, as well as veterinary pathogen detection.

Aside from the improvement in reaction volume capacity, the CFX Opus Deepwell system offers numerous new features advancing on Bio-Rad’s previous large-volume system. The improved thermal performance of this system offers more precise and reliable quantification of PCR products, and the shuttle optical system yields consistent measurements across the sample plate. The Deepwell system also supports multiplexing of up to five targets simultaneously, as well as fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) applications.
