Bioanalysis Zone announces winner of Rising Star Award 2024
Bioanalysis Zone, the knowledge hub for the bioanalytical industry, has named Tomislav Caval (Regeneron; CA, USA) the 2024 winner of the Bioanalysis Rising Star Award (BRSA; formerly the New Investigator Award).
The BRSA is an annual award that recognizes and promotes the work of talented early-career scientists, offering researchers a springboard to help establish themselves in the exciting world of bioanalysis.
This year’s winner, Tomislav Caval, was nominated by Klaus Lindpaintner (InterVenn Biosciences; CA, USA) who commented:
“Tomislav has proved himself to be a highly creative, innovative, unorthodox, and at times provocative outside-the-box thinker who is not afraid of taking risks and pushing the envelope, but who at the same time remains pragmatic and grounded in reality, resulting in an impressive track record of productivity – inventions as well as publications. Tomislav is a dedicated glycobiologist with a bright future. I am confident that he will continue to make significant contributions to the field and will become a recognized leader in the field.”
As the winner of the BRSA, Tomislav will present his work at the 17th European Bioanalysis Forum (EBF) Open Symposium, held in Barcelona (Spain) on 20−22 November 2024. He also receives a 1-year subscription to Bioanalysis and USD $1000, courtesy of award sponsors Waters Corporation (MA, USA), a leading provider of analytical instruments and software in liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry and thermal analysis.
Naamah Maundrell, previous Editor-in-Chief of Bioanalysis Zone and current Head of Digital Content, Taylor & Francis, added:
“As always, it has been a delight to host the Bioanalysis Rising Star Award this year and to celebrate the bioanalytical efforts of early-career researchers. I would like to congratulate Tomislav and all of this year’s nominees on their inspirational work.”
Tomislav won the public vote after three finalists were shortlisted by the judges. The other finalists were Karan Agrawal (Johnson & Jonhson; PA, USA) and Monique Ryan (Australian National Phenome Centre; Murdoch, Australia).
