“I am excited to see the movers and shakers in bioanalysis, and to learn how these rising stars are pushing the boundaries of the field!”

Matthew Lockett is currently an Assistant Professor in the analytical division of the Department of Chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He obtained his BS in chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh. He obtained his PhD from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, under the supervision of Professor Lloyd M. Smith.  Before joining the faculty at Carolina, Matt completed postdoctoral training in the laboratory of Professor George M. Whitesides in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard University. Matt’s research interests are broadly defined as bioanalytical chemistry, and the development of new tools and methods to better understand the complexities of molecular recognition, cell-microenvironment interactions, and oxygen-regulated networks in healthy and cancerous cells.
